Captivating, haunting and beautiful is my most recent account of this movie
to a friend. Every second of 'Titanic' invokes a highly charged emotion,
whether that be fear, exhilaration, denial, or those familiar romantic
flutters. Most of all though, this is a love story of undeniably
the highest callibre. It may be recognised that romantic comedies
are highly enjoyable and always leave you happy and satisfied, but often
it is the love stories of utmost beauty but which are fated to a tragic
demise in this life time that hold that special place in our hearts - causing
us to cry but to hold on and believe that love like that was worth the
find despite its short life. One amazing element which holds this
story in and above the category of 'devastatingly beautiful' is the final
scene which gives the viewer that which is missing from 'Romeo &
Juliet', 'Up Close & Personal' and others of the 'genre' which are
truly beautiful love stories with a tragic end (as described previously)
- we are treated to a reunion of sorts, between true lovers. A rare
scene which we would love to see in other movies but it is usually an unreasonable
wish. However, 'Titanic' is perfect in that, although the viewer
knows Jack is doomed, he continues to return just as we think it is the
last time we will see his beautiful face! Jack and Rose are not torn
apart until the very, very end of the situations - another way this special
movie emotes the message of hope and salvation. 'Titanic' forces
us to remember that all classes and types of people, all through the ages,
are essentially the same. We all experience hurt, loss, and if we're
lucky, true love. The movie also forces us to realise that any 'event'
is not simply a news item or a place for digging for some sort of riches
with value from anything from the historical to monetary point of view.
Real people and real emotions were and are involved. 'Titanic'
invites us to experience every step of Jack and Rose's short but heart
wrenching and memorable affair which saved Rose 'in every way possible.'
The viewer will hold their breath as the ship goes down, not because it
is a scary moment, but because the viewer is there and is
about to be plunged into and under the freezing ocean. The viewer
will breathe a sigh of freedom as you soar with Rose as she 'flies' over
the spectacular ocean with Jack at their last sunset. It's a tough
choice to decide whether to fall in love with the dazzling of the night
spectacle of romantic stars or the relief the sunlight brings. Whatever
the case, whenever you see either you are sure to remember this film and
the emotions it stirs to life. This movie is a must for everyone
because, although it is essentially a deep love story, anyone is able to
find a piece of complete enjoyment from this film as it may also be seen
as a metaphor of life (admittedly, this is more easily understood if one
has seen this film!). Hope, love, life and truth have never been
more captivating as in 'Titanic'.
Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet are remarkable actors who set the screen
alight and our hearts alive with a unique performance which allows us into
Rose and Jack's life and love.
James Horner's score is a must to accompany one after the movie, as by
listening to this soundtrack you can relive the moments over and over again
in your head - or whilst gazing at the stars (or the stars you wish were
there). The music floats you across the ocean, drags you underneath
it, but all the time you will stay locked in the heart of it all.
I am forced to quote (the legendary) James Cameron's words on this topic:
"he [Horner] has made us one with Jack and Rose, feeling the beat of their
hearts as they experience the kind of love we all dream about, but seldom
find." I believe Cameron's words about the love sum up the priviledge
we, as the audience, have in being treated to a sensational story and film
event such as this. If you are a romantic, this story will stay locked
in your heart forever.

My heart will
go on ~ performed by Celine Dion
.
Every night in
my dreams I see you, I feel you.
That is how I know
you go on.
far across the
distance and spaces between us
You have come to
show you go on.
.
Near, far, wherever
you are,
I believe that
the heart does go on.
Once more you open
the door
And you're here
in my heart,
And my heart will
go on and on.
.
Love can touch
us one time and last for a lifetime,
And never let go
till we're gone.
Love was when I
loved you, on true time I hold to
In my life we'll
always go on.
.
Near, far, wherever
you are,
I believe that
the heart does go on.
Once more you open
the door
And you're here
in my heart,
And my heart will
go on and on.
.
You're here, there's
nothing I fear.
And I know that
my heart will go on.
We'll stay forever
this way.
You are safe in
my heart,
And my heart will
go on and on.
