All these songs seem to have an element of sadness to them. First is a song called Angelia which is simply a sad love song, much like Endless Summer Nights (the third song listed) and Right Here Waiting for You (fourth listed). Richard Marx found the unusual name intriguing after meeting a pretty air hostess named Angelia.

I first heard Endless Summer Nights whilst listening to the 'Shadow's' American Top 40 countdown which was playing on a station here in Australia. This weekly show had a segment called 'long distance dedications' and I was taken with the story which went with the request of this song. I wish I had the letter on tape, but it was a heartfelt note to a young man's lost love who had left him after falling in love with someone else whilst they were trying to carry on a long distance relationship. I hope she was listening 'cause it sure would have made *her* cry as I'm sure it did to many listeners who did not even know the romantic requester.

Right Here Waiting, possibly Marx's biggest hit, was written for his then fiancé (now his wife for whom Now and Forever (not listed) was written) who was filming in South Africa and he was in America. He was extremely depressed and missed her greatly and so it was suggested he write a song as his best material had been written when he was depressed!

Finally, Hazard is listed second, and it is just a great tragic love story. I *love* the film clip for this and the music of this song is beautiful.
