Andy Taylor:  The doomed sheriff from "Home" ; a particularly 'shippy ep IMHO.

Apology Is Policy:  The alternate tag line replacing 'The Truth Is Out There' in "731".  Is a Scully theory which refers to the Government's policy of apologising for shameful deeds that can't be covered up.

Big Blue:  The supposed prehistoric lake-dwelling monster from "Quagmire".

BBQ: (Barbecue from "Red Museum"): while eating lunch, Mulder sweetly brushes barbecue sauce away from Scully's face with a napkin.

CC: Chris Carter - executive producer and creator of the best show ever!

Chaco Chicken:  Where you'll find poultry and a *lot* more in "Our Town".

CITC: (Conversation In The Car from "Tooms"): an important bonding moment between Mulder & Scully containing the iced tea conversation. See quote page.

CITDBTB: (Conversation In The Dark By The Bed from "Pilot"): sitting in the dark by Mulder's hotel bed, Mulder first relates to Scully his quest for the truth about the cover-up of paranormal phenomena as it stemmed from the disappearance of his sister; occurs shortly after IMBS (see below).

CITH: (Conversation In The Hall from "Memento Mori") One of the most beautiful scenes ever!  Scully vows not to let the cancer beat her, Mulder watches her with tenderness, emotion and love - and we get the first kiss Mulder's ever given Scully - however at this point we're still waiting for one on the lips!  See diary entries here.

COTB:  (Conversation On The Bench  from "Home") where Scully and Mulder check out each other's family genetic history - you know, foreshadowing the future... ooh sorry... slipped...

COTR: (Conversation On The Rock from "Quagmire"): after their boat sinks while searching for a sea monster in a lake, Mulder and Scully are stranded on a rock; Scully explains her inability to fathom the reasons why Mulder is so relentless in his pursuit of the unexplained and how he is similar to Ahab in his pursuit of the whale in "Moby Dick" See quote page for the "comin' on to me" conversation

DKS:  Dana Katherine Scully

DM:  Darin Morgan, brother of Glen, writer of several wonderful TXF episodes and actor who portrayed both Flukeman and Eddie Van Blundht of "Small Potatoes".

E.B.E:  Extraterrestrial Biological Entity - a synonym for 'alien', used in the episode of the same name.

El 'Aaniigoo 'Ahoot'e:  Opener tag line ('The Truth Is Out There') was translated into Navajo for "Anasazi".

Fallen Angel:  Military term for a UFO crash in episode of the same title.

FTITC:  (Face Touch In The Car from "Pusher"): where Mulder touches Scully's face to wake her up while she was sleeping on his shoulder.

FWM:  Fox William Mulder

GA: Gillian Anderson- SAME AS ABOVE!

GoatBoy:  John Shiban, writer of "El Mundo Gira" (thus the goat reference) among other things. Somewhat reviled by shippers.

GTM: (Gratuitous Tactile Moment): any moment that involves Mulder and Scully touching, but particularly those moments that are not necessarily required for the plot; eg. the hand-holding scene in "Pusher".

HATCH:  (Hug At The Congressional Hearing from "Terma").  Quoted from XFR's FAQ because they put it sooo well... "Mulder returns from  Russia and walks into a Congressional hearing like a knight in shining armor just as Scully, whom has been held in contempt of Congress and sent to jail for not revealing his whereabouts, is being grilled to tell what she knows.  As soon as the gavel falls, ending the session, Scully jumps from her chair and they embrace.  Mulder's line:  "It's good to be able to put my arms around you...both of them."

"He/She is one":  Scrawled on the backs of kidnapped teenagers in "Red Museum".

HITH:  (Hug In The Hall from "Memento Mori"): part of CITH - just watch the ep OK!

HITO:  (Hug In The Office from "Paper Hearts"):  Scully pulls Mulder into a hug and kisses the top of his head after a disturbing case which dug up the mystery of Mulder's sister, Samantha.

HITHR:  (Hug In The Hospital Room from "Herronvolk"):  Scully holds Mulder as he cries by his dying mother.
.
HITP:  (Hug In The Pilot): after IMBS where Scully is relieved to find that the marks on her back are not what she thought - she promptly throws herself into Mulder's arms - and this is the FIRST EPISODE!.
.
HCITV:  (Hand Clasp In The Van from "Pusher")  Where Mulder gives Scully his gun, telling her he 'wouldn't want to end up pointing it at anyone but Modell', at the same time as trying to ease her fears about him going in to face this crazy man alone.
.
HFI:  The first great hug from 'The X-Files' after Scully breaks down and lets Mulder in to comfort her after being through a horrific ordeal.
.
IMBS: (Infamous Mosquito Bite Scene from "Pilot"): fearing marks on her lower back are from alien experimentation, Scully rushes to Mulder's hotel room wearing only a bra and underwear under a robe; she takes off the robe, Mulder gently examines her, revealing the marks are mosquito bites, and a hug of relief follows (only after the robe is back on .... Doh!)

*LOL*:  Everyone's seen it but we all have to ask at least once about what it means - 'Laugh Out Loud'!

MBS: (Mosquito-bite Scene from "Pilot") where Scully drops her robe so Mulder can inspect her bare back to determine exactly what those sinister marks are!

Merchandise:  The cryptic reference to alien-human hybrids in the Department of Defense's top secret UFO files in "Anasazi".
.
Morleys:  the brand of cigarettes Cancer Man chain-smokes.
.
MUFON:  (Mutual UFO Network): the clique of abduction survivors who 'recognise' fellow abductee Scully in "Nisei".
.
NICAP:  (National Investigative Committee of Aerial Phenomena): conspiracy hobbyists, primarily obsessed with UFO coverups.

NIS:  (Neck Inspection Scene from "Ice") A hot scene from this very 'shippy episode where Scully and Mulder start to trust each other, and no one else!

Noromo: short for "no romance," the opposite of 'shipper, someone who believes that M & S are nothing more than close friends.
.
"One today is worth two tomorrow's":  The Benjamin Franklin quote on the desk of the dead boss in "Shadows".
.
Operation Falcon:  The secret military cleanup of crashed UFOs in  "Fallen Angel".
.
Purity Control:  The government project that uses extraterrestrial DNA to create alien-human hybrids.
.
Queequeg:  The doomed (watch "Quagmire") Pomeranian given to Scully by Clyde Bruckman (in "Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose")and named for a sailor in her father's favourite book, Moby Dick.
.
Ratboy:  Alex Krycek
.
Relationshipper/R'shipper: any "X-Files" fan who is dedicated to and/or believes in a romantic relationship between Mulder and Scully.

RST: Resolved Sexual Tension - what 'shippers want to see happen to the UST (see below)

Shipper:  abbreviation for "relationshipper"

Starbuck:  Captain William Scully's nickname for his daughter Dana (see 'Queequeg' for more information). Scully called him Ahab, a character she later likens to Mulder in "Quagmire".

St. Vince/Prince Vince/UberVince:  Vince Gilligan, writer of "Paper Hearts" among other shippy episodes. Loved by many shippers.

"The Spirit Is The Truth":  The Bible quotation Mrs. Scully has engraved on her daughter's tombstone after Dana is abducted and presumed dead ("One Breath")

Uniblonder: Marita Covarrubias.  GO HERE!

Unruhe:  German for unrest - the state of mind from which freelance lobotomizer and full-time psycho Jerry Schnauz believes he is delivering his victims in "Unruhe".

UST: Unresolved Sexual Tension

YKYAXPW: You Know You're An X Phile When - this can be used as a subject line, or as an acronym for something outside of the X Files that reminds you of it.

1013: Chris Carter's birthday, also the name of his production company, mysteriously shows up a lot on TXF.

1121: Chris Carter's Wife's Dori's birthday, often the time of night when Mulder calls Scully.
