.A
story of love lost and found.
.
Theresa Osborne (Robin
Wright Penn) is on vacation on Cape Cod when she comes across a bottle
containing a message of poetry and heartache which reaches Theresa and
changes her life, because Theresa is about to fall in love with a man she
has never met. Following a hurtful divorce, Theresa fills her life
with caring for her son Jason, and working as a researcher at teh Chicago
Tribune. The letter is simply signed 'G', and the search for this
man leads her to find a sailboat builder named Garret Blake (Kevin Costner).
Since the death of his wife Catherine, he has led a solitary existence,
except for his relationship with his father played by Paul Newman.
Garret is given the option of his new life - "You
choose -- the past or the future. Pick one and stick with it."
This is a visually and emotionally
beautiful movie. None of the cast fails to disappoint in performance,
and the experience is moving -
"A radiant romance of sweet
surprises and tender feelings" (David Sheehan, CBS TV).
