The Top Ten Most Romantic Things About "Irresistable"

10)     The Umbrella.  Hey, it's just a really small moment between them, but one that is undeniably sweet -- when Scully is getting into the car at the cemetery and Mulder opens the door for her and stands in the rain while she maneuvers into the car with the umbrella.  What nice manners, eh?

9)     The Scene in the Alley.  When Boggs asks them if they want to look at the body and Scully doesn't immediately follow, but instead tells Mulder that she needs a minute -- which he gives her, after another one of those great concerned looks this ep is famous for.

8)     Mulder's Look of Concern.   (Well, I'm on a roll with the looks, now, so why stop a good thing!)   I'm talking about the moment where he and Boggs are bent over the computer monitor and have just determined that Scully did indeed arrive and disembark the plane.... and the policewoman enters to say that they have found Agent Scully's car.  The resulting look on Mulder's face is just =full= of emotion.  How can anyone say he doesn't truly care about her?

7)     Mulder's Little Diatribe:  And you cannot forget the concern in Mulder's eyes when he gets to the scene of the crashed car, and erupts in the first of his little rants, this one ending with the words,
".... We're gonna find her."  Do we really have any doubt?

6)      Mulder's Little Diatribe, Part 2:   Myself, I'm a pretty big fan of Mulder's high stress level (good angst) after Scully disappears.  Have to love his second rant to Boggs about "Elvis in 3 states every day" that ends with "... and yet no one saw a pretty woman being forced off the road in a rental car."  Um, he said she was pretty... <sigh>

5)     Mulder Asks Scully Out On A Date.   I mean, guys -- when  someone says, "Vikins vs. Redskins.  Two tickets on the 40-yard-line at the Metrodome.  You and me." --  I think that qualifies as an
actual date!  <g>  Who cares that they never get to go.... the point is, Mulder actually bought the tickets and organized it.... what a man!  ;-)

4)     The Mulder/Scully Phone Conversation.    You have to =love= the phone conversation where Scully tells Mulder that he can use her help, and he responds by saying "Always."  Any wonder why that
line made last week's Top Ten List?

3)    Scully's Conversation with the Psych.   Not the whole conversation, though one must admit that GA is remarkable in this scene.  It's the part where the Psych asks if there's a problem with her partner, a problem with trust, and Scully responds by saying, "No.  I trust him as much as anyone.  I trust him with my life."  Wow....

2)     The Conversation in the Hallway.    When Scully tells Mulder that she thinks she's better off going back to Washington.... the scene is loaded with so many great moments that I'd need a whole other list to put them all down <g>, but the best is surely Mulder's line, "I just don't want you to think you have to hide anything from me."  And of course the look he gives Scully when she walks past him down the hall.... so much concern, so much worry!  Welove it!

and of course, the number one slot goes to....

1)     The Hug.  I mean, there's really *nothing* better, now is there??  You could analyse every beat of the scene from the moment Mulder enters the house, but I'll just focus on the crucial stuff.  <g> The way that Mulder tips up Scully's chin with one finger and she tries to meet his eyes, but can't.  The way she buries herself in his arms and the way he pulls her close, and then she tightens her arms across his back in response.  <sigh> And there are those out there who =deny= these two really love each other??? How can this be possible?  <g>
