Yes, those =are= wedding bells you are hearing in the background....
<g>This wedding scenario really works!! I repeat from last week:
This =is= acolumn for true believers!! And a lot of true believers
with very activeimaginations.... I LOVE IT!!! Once again, I got
alot of good, very creative feedback. :-
And none of the responses were, shall we say, typical. <g>
Which again isn't so surprising -- a couple like Mulder and Scully would
definitely not get engaged in the typical way. However, I do have
to say that most of you are traditionalists -- not a one suggested that
Scully pop the big question! Fine with me... and it makes alot of
sense. In my opinion, Scully is perfectly ready for Mulder to pop
the big question -- I would venture to say that she was ready back in "Tooms"
where she basically pledged her undying support to him in the famous CITC.
And if she had any doubts, his persistence in finding and saving her overthe
course of the Duane Barry trilogy (notice I ignore the whole idea of "3"by
stubbornly viewing that series as a trilogy...) answered any questions
she might have had about his feelings for her. So what Scully --
and the rest of us! -- are waiting for is Mulder to get up the courage
to dive off the highboard. Perhaps we should send him a copy
of the following list??? ;-)
Before we start, have to mention the weirdest vote -- Mulder
asks Scully while she's performing an autopsy!! Can't believe it,
but would love to see it.... especially her reaction to it! <g>
Do we really believe she'd say yes?? Now here we go again -- hold
onto your hats!! Working from the number 10 spot up.....
10) Mulder Just Plain Asks -- there are those of you out there who believe that Mulder isn't capable of any sort of clever fanfare, and you might be right. After all, this is a man who can't even allow himself to be called by his own first name, and he's not exactly verbal with his emotions. So it's highly believable that he would just plain ask her -- "Scully, will you marry me?" -- in some very innocuous place. (Hey, the basement of the Hoover building is as good as anywhere else! <G>)
9) Mulder Assumes It's A Done Deal -- not surprising. We do too. <g> Votes in this direction indicated that Mulder would be likely to say something along the lines of, "So, are we getting married or what?" Another popular version indicated Mulder coming out with a phrase like, "Guess we should make this official." Hmmm, I'm all for making it official -- as long as the honeymoon fulfills all of our (high!) expectations. ;-)
8) Mulder Enlists The Help Of The Gunmen -- this idea had me rolling on the floor laughing, especially once I realized that if Frohike was anywhere=near= Scully during the proposal sequence, all bets would be off!! But then again, there was that ep where the Gunmen were ice skating (shoot me -- can't remember which one it was!) and they pretty much said that Mulder should use them more -- that they could be of great help to him!! Never would I have thought he would turn to them under this kind of pressure, but then again, he doesn't have many other friends to turn to, eh? Hmmm, getting a pretty good picture of who the groomsmen are gonna be! <Bg>
7) Mulder Asks Scully Over A Game Of Stratego -- I'm lumping a bunch of similar votes together into one category. Seems many of you feel that because Scully has essentially filled the void in Mulder's life that Samantha created, it would be some kind of parallel scenario that would give him the guts to take the plunge. Games of Stratego outnumbered having Mulder ask Scully to marry him at his parent's house on the Vineyard, but I felt both deserved a mention. In addition, GamePlayer Leikin says that Mulder wouldn't give Scully a real rock (at least not yet!) but would instead present her with a gumball-machine plastic ring that once belonged to Samantha and was the last gift Mulder ever gave Sam. Hmmm.... I only wonder why Sam wasn't wearing the ring when she vanished! Enough said...
6) Mulder Asks Scully While Sitting On That Bench -- several
of you voted for Mulder to ask Scully to marry him on that bench where
they hang outsometimes (most notably featured in the recent rerun of "The
Host" (NB. That’s what I was talking about Leisa! It’s
by some river - Starbug). Not being a D.C. gal myself, I defer to
the person who gave that location a name-- the bench overlooking the Tidal
Basin.
Hey, I can believe it -- it's local, convenient, and not mushily romantic
-- all of which sounds like the perfect Mulder choice to me!
5) Mulder Disguises The Proposal In A Case -- love
this idea!! There were several versions submitted that went along
this same theme, basically involving Mulder presenting Scully with an unsolved
X-File
that at some point along the way would lead her to a ring and a note,
or perhaps a phone call from him. There's a lot of fun to be had
with this idea -- and let me just note here for the record, it's the only
one of these ideas that could have the remotest possible chance of ending
up in the Final Episode of the Files" (when that comes around in the year
2006 <g>). Chris Carter, are you listening???? ;-)
4) Mulder And Scully Share That Big Kiss -- another choice that many of you favored!! Makes sense -- after all, it's pretty much a fanfic staple that Mulder and Scully share an electric, hair-raising, pulse-racing,knee-weakening kiss and realize that they can't live without each other a moment longer. What better time for Mulder to utter those four little words("Will you marry me?") and Scully to respond with a very sexy yes before they fall into a pile atop the bed. Ummm, time to cut this one short, before I venture into racy territory... ;-)
3) Mulder and Scully Get Drunk And Wind Up In A Vegas Chapel
-- this actually =should= have taken the number one spot, as it was the
choice that garnered the most votes!! But number two and number
one this week are special becaue of their presentation. So here
we are at number three, and I'm laughing about the fact that so many of
you think that Mulder and Scully would only cross the great divide with
a lot of help from Sam(Adams) and Jack (Daniels)... ah well.
Whatever it takes, eh? <g> And I have to mention the
following special additions -- that Mulder wakes up witha "Property of
Dana Scully" tattoo across his butt, while Scully has a similar tattoo
on her thigh reading "Mulder's Love Goddess".... whoa! And
Ithought this was supposed to be a PG-13 column. ;-) I try,
believe me, I try!!
2) Mulder Gets Help From The Clyde Bruckman Dog --
this one =had= to take the number two position. <g> Not
only did it come to me in the form of avignette from GamePlayer Michelle,
but it involves the
little puppy that I loved from "Clyde Bruckman" and "War of the C's"!
So without further ado:
Scully comes home from a hard day's work to find her apartment cleaned,
the table laid, a meal waiting, soft lights etc. There's nobody there except
her Pomeranian. Attached to its collar is a box. Inside is a
ring and a note saying "Dana, will you marry me? If so...please call
me.." Mulder is of course waiting outside with his mobile phone, to see
if she says yes.... Best part about that is it takes the whole cellular
phone courtship intoaccount!! Good one...The number one spot goes
to another little vignette:
1) Mulder Pops The Question On A Plane -- this works for
me completely!! After all, who spends more time on planes than our two
favorite federalagents?? This one comes to me from GamePlayer
Jennifer, who believes that Mulder actually planned the trip specifically
for that purpose. My question would be, how the hell does he convince
Scully to go to Paris with him? Seems more likely that he would just pop
the question on an ordinary flight to an ordinary case locale... but decide
for yourselves: I think Mulder has been saving up his $ to do something
really special for Scully. He'll buy a beautiful ring, and buy two
tickets to Paris. On the plane trip------
(Mulder and Scully sitting by each other on plane)
(Mulder whispers under his breath) "Dana Katherine
Mulder, Mrs. Mulder.........."
(Scully's bewildered) "Mulder??"
"Scully?"
"Yeah?"
(Mulder pulls out ring box) "Scully, I have
admired you since the day I met you. I am hopelessly
in love with you. You are all that I think about, and you are
as important to me as my sister was. Dana, will you marry me?"
"Yes, oh yes!" (People applaud, and hoot as
M&S fall into a desperate romantickiss...)<Nic takes out Kleenex
and wipes her teary eyes> That's all ::sniff:: forthis
week's poll ::sniff:: excuse me while I collect my emotions....
;-) This was a long one, folks -- thanks for hanging in with me!!!
